@EOHConnect Draws International Speaker Line-Up #EOHfastdata #DigitalWorld #9May18

Hi Friends,

This years’ EOH Connect conference, Fast Data: Business at the Speed of Thought focuses on data at the center of the digital revolution. This year’s event will offer attendees the chance to experience some remarkable guest speakers.

Vinny Lingham, a ‘shark’ on the South African edition of the global Shark Tank TV-franchise is the international keynote speaker of the event. Lingham is also one of South Africa’s major technology entrepreneur exports to Silicon Valley and will be flanked during the day by other top speakers including the inspiring and critically acclaimed global adventurer, Hein Wagner and Simone Zanetti, the founder of Allos South Africa.

“Our line-up this year is designed to challenge conventional views about the future of data and technology. We are confident that our guests will be thinking very differently about what they can achieve for their businesses by the end of the conference,” says CEO of EOH’s ICT business, Rob Godlonton.

Keynote speaker, Vinny Lingham, is regularly ranked in the top-5 most influential FinTech, Blockchain, and crypto sphere ‘insiders’ on the planet. Known as one of South Africa’s most famous technology entrepreneurs, he is nicknamed the ‘Bitcoin Oracle’ for his accurate forecasts of movements in the cryptocurrency’s price.

Frequently writing on topics relating to the decentralization of the financial industry and the sovereignty of the consumer, Lingham never fails to ‘disrupt’ when sharing his controversial views on the future relationship of the banking and technology industries.

Opening about his view on The New Financial Revolution and Why Tokens are Eating the World, Lingham has famously argued that, “Blockchain technologies are changing the way the world functions and tokens appear to be yet another killer app... If we’re able to move land registry & title deeds, identity, commodities, and stocks to the blockchain, we will succeed in making the world far more efficient and secure.”

Most recently, his article The Value Trap Dilemma challenges the presupposition that value of the future can only be financial. Using the token economy model as a case in point, he argues against the value of short-term economics versus the value of the longer-term promise of decentralization that blockchain and distributed ledgers offer.

With over a decade of experience in e-commerce, Lingham launched Civic after identifying that there was no universal identity solution that balanced security and privacy with ease of use and ubiquity. Today, Civic, based out of Palo Alto in California, is a business designed to solve problems relating to identity theft, fraud, and ultimately, democracy - topics he speaks about candidly, along with contemporary issues facing the Bitcoin & Blockchain community.
