Following the Diageo World Class bartending competition, Travis Kuhn has crowned South Africa’s best bartender 2018 after competing with 10 of his contestants who showcased intriguing cocktail making skills set him apart as no.1.
Now in its 9th year, the Diageo Reserve World Class Bartender competition is the industry’s most prestigious mixology event and aims to elevate the skill and craft of the bartending profession, setting global trends and standards in the service industry.
Following the Diageo World Class bartending competition, Travis Kuhn has crowned South Africa’s best bartender 2018 after competing with 10 of his contestants who showcased intriguing cocktail making skills set him apart as no.1.
Now in its 9th year, the Diageo Reserve World Class Bartender competition is the industry’s most prestigious mixology event and aims to elevate the skill and craft of the bartending profession, setting global trends and standards in the service industry.
The three-day competition held in Cape Town was full of excitement which started with a challenge of bartenders serving the judges leading to the mindful test which was a demonstration of skill combined with creativity, with a closing of a very tense yet fulfilling cocktail making that had a zest of great taste leaving judges in blown away.
Referring to the competition, Kuhn said: “I’m so incredibly amazed and excited to be the winner this year, it’s been a gruelling week taking on all the challenges against some of the most skilled bartenders that I’ve met. Participating in the competition again this year has been amazing enough but to finish off as the winner…I’m so delighted!”

The crowned winner will go on to compete against the best in the world, representing our country where mixologist from more than 60 countries around the world will be on a quest for the ultimate, World Class Bartender title in Berlin from October.
