I have been going to all the
Samsung activation for Galaxy Studio in Sandton City for many years now and it has increased in the last few years as I moved closer to the area. The first one I went to was for Samsung S5 where they gave me a metallic water bottle with my name written on with S5 Fit Aashish. From that time onwards I made it a point to always attend if I am able to know when it's going to happen and I am free on that weekend.
2 Years back at the
Samsung activation for S9 and S9+ in Sandton City they were giving a tour of the studio and asking some 5 questions at the end of the same. Someone who puts his hands up first will be told to answer and will win a brand new Samsung UFlex Headphones and as I was focussing on getting all the answers registered in my mind, I was the chosen one for the second question and brought home these amazing new Samsung Uflex Bluetooth headphones. Even during S10 and S10+ activations, it was widely distributed on Twitter, Facebook, and Samsung Studio by winning the dancing challenge.
Samsung UFlex derives its name from the flexible and bendable neckband which sits easily around your neck to bring a great audio experience. The product is not fully bendable and it is suggested that you don't bend it more than 100 degrees than its natural position. I don't think it will be of much concern for a person who is using on a day to day travel or work purposes unless you want to keep them inside some backpack tilting them.
The package includes just the UFlex Bluetooth headphones with 2 wired earbuds connected to the neckband, several silicon ear tips (S, M, L) and a USB cable to charge the headphones. The earbuds are magnetic in nature and when not in use you can attach them together to secure the headphones band in a loop around your neck. There is no other function attached to the magnetic buds like music doesn't stop when it's attached to each other as seen in some of the recent Bluetooth headphones.
With the motto of
Listen to Your Music in Superior Comfort which is enabled by the stable Bluetooth sound over the interface and 2-way speakers which are best in class to produce not only music audio but you can also receive calls. The speakers include the 11mm woofers and 8mm tweeters which will cover a large number of frequency ranges in your favorite music. I really enjoy the fast v4.2 Bluetooth connection with my Samsung Note 8 smartphone showing me the battery levels from time to time and also alerting if I am listening at loud volume. It happens once you cross the volume scale of 60 towards 100.
Samsung devices also have a feature where you can Adapt Sound or Sound Alive to match your profile based on age or you can have a personalized sound profile too. Samsung's scalable codec technology gives a seamless connection on your Bluetooth headphones and these are the only headphones I have in my stable which works even if I change rooms and go in another living room or even to the kitchen in a 2 bedroom apartment across walls. Kudos to Samsung for bringing this technology.
The best part is Dolby Atmos can be enabled which has 4 options to choose from - Auto, Movie, Music, and Voice which makes the overall listening experience a pleasure for your ears and heart. With an overall weight of just 51 grams, there is no way you will be tired of carrying them. They just come in a single color of Black with dark silver ends which makes them really beautiful.
Let's come to the functions buttons on either side of the headphones. The left ear side barrel only contains the Samsung logo and a function button which can be customized as per your wish. In my headphones, I have kept it to tell me the time of the day but you can adjust Active Key to Bixby, Timer, Samsung Health, Voice Recorder or any of your favorite app. If you download the Samsung Level app on your smartphone then you can also check Volume Monitor to check your listening fatigue level. I am not a fan of listening in loud volumes so for me it's always low.
The right side has most of the controls from the micro-USB charging port to switching the device ON-OFF and Pairing on the inside flat surface. There is a Play/Pause button on the exact place where the function button is on the left barrel. The right barrel also has volume up and down buttons which can be short pressed to do volume up-down feature and a long press will take you to the previous and next song respectively. The rechargeable Li-ion battery lasts for around 8 hours of play and talk time and can be charged fully in around 2 hours.

Overall these Samsung UFlex headphones will last you long enough if you take care of them properly and can adjust to your audio pleasures as per your requirements. They are not so high on bass but that can be increased using the Sound Alive in the smartphone app. The whole package is priced around R1500 and is available on second-hand stores like Gumtree etc for one-third of the price. The call audio quality is also good and you can use them to attend to receive calls easily. These days we use a lot of Whatsapp calls and it's really easy with these headphones. I think these are more of earphones rather than headphones as told on the package. The noise isolation on these is amazing and you can definitely concentrate on your tasks and activities. I am loving them and surely hope that you will too!
