Hi Friends,
Chocked - Paisa Bolta Hai is the latest Hindi movie to be launched on Netflix Platform based on the Demonetization in a drama format set in Mumbai and is directed and produced by Anurag Kashyap. The story is written by Nihit Bhave and music is composed by Karsh Kale. The lead actors are Saiyami Kher and Roshan Matthew along with Netflix's favorite artist whom you will remember from Sacred Games Season 1 and 2 like Amruta Subhash and Rajshri Deshpande.
The movie is set in a building where a couple lives on the third floor along with various other neighbors and the various relationship equations have been played out. There is a marriage happening in one of the neighbor's houses and amidst all that demonetization is introduced. Saiyami plays Sarita who works at a bank as a cashier and a singer from the reality show who got chocked while performing in the finals which led to her eliminations and that shock is still getting her chocked from time to time by the name of singing. I could not even recognize her in this unglamorous role as a mother and married woman. She has really played her role perfectly well.
Roshan plays Sushant husband of Sarita who used to play guitar in the reality show and thereafter is doing much unsuccessful business to help the financial conditions of the family creating friction between him and his wife while their son becomes a judge. He is in business with Dinesh who also lives on the same building and they continuously fight over several matters related to money and clients. Really loved Roshan in his role.
Amruta plays Sharvari Tai, a single parent whose daughter is getting married and Sushant is helping her with many of the tasks and activities of the marriage. Tai's role is of a neighbor who also helps and gives an ear to Sarita and demands helps after the demonetization to getting her old currency replaced at all costs. Amruta plays her role amazingly great and she is one force to reckon with in this web series industry in the coming future. Rajshri comes on the screen for not more than 5 minutes in the whole storyline in the background with part of the ensemble.
Due to some leakage problems of the sink, the plumber does a make-shift kind of arrangement and the currency notes stored in the pipelines by the PA to the MLA in the top floor flat come to Sarita's flat kitchen sink pipes causing chocking of the water. Her happiness knows no bounds and sooner she gets more than enough which she keeps hiding from her husband. Soon it is revealed that Dinesh is also getting those notes as he returns the money owned to Sushant whereas Sarita pays Reddy the money owned by Sushant.
It's a situational drama based around where the bankers are not clear, people are not clear, and money makers in between are trying to hack the system by setting up connections with bank managers and politicians. There is small suspense at the end of the drama which I don't want to reveal and you shall watch it to enjoy the same. It goes after an adage in Hindi, Hamam mein sab nange hai! It's a 114 minutes long movie based on the after-effects of demonetization released on 5th June 2020 on Netflix and reminded me of Ek Chalis ki Last Local movie starring Abhay Deol and Neha Dhupia. RATING 2.5/5
