Stationery Review 332 - The Light of Lights by Sri Aurobindo Diary 2013

Hi Friends,

The Light of Lights by Sri Aurobindo Diary is a gift from one of my friends in India, way back in 2013, and since then, this has been kept just like that in mint condition. I really loved the quotes of Sri Aurobindo, and this is a perfect chance to read more from his complete works. This comes in a nice yellow colour hardbound cover, and I totally love it and will make it my Gratitude journal for this year.

Stationery Review 330 - Pentel Energel BL107 Gel Pen (ZAR 25)

Hi Friends,

We got this Pentel Energel 0.7mm Gel Pen in Black ink in South Africa at the Vivo Launch event. They gave this one along with a Vivo diary. Unomax Marvel Spidey Fountain Pen (INR 50) is a hooded nib kind of fountain pen. Unomax blue ink is really good coloured ink that comes along with in the cartridges. I have always liked the colour of their ink. This pen comes in many character variants for all kids' choices. This is a nice entry-level fountain pen for kids in school.

Stationery Review 325 - Cross Ball Pen & Mechanical Pencil Set

Hi Friends,

Stationery Review 325 - Cross Ball Pen & Mechanical Pencil Set

If we talk about the leather case that has Rotring branding on the same which can easily be priced at Rs 4500 from a brand called Lapis. And if you go for Montblanc, this case is priced at ZAR 3000 or more. I really love the touch and feel that you get to enjoy when you carry this one in your pockets or backpack. 

The Cross pens in this steel metallic body are really heavy, and what I have observed is that a mechanical pencil is always 4-5 grams heavier than a ball pen. The ball pen is around 1.0mm, which is not according to my writing habits, but I really love the flow and the smoothness of the refill. 

The Cross pen has a twist mechanism for both a pencil and a ball pen. I really love the design, and this can be bought in its new avatars from Sandton Stationery & Print Shop in Sandton City, Johannesburg.

Stationery Review 324 - Muji Japan Pocketnote A6 (148x105mm) - INR 125

This is really a nice booklet that you can find, but it's not cheap now, as the price is around Rs 300. They have created so many of these in different sizes so as to take care of every human being's needs for their journaling or jotting down ideas. I didn't like the paper that they have used to cover the books, as it's really thin and only a little bit thicker than the page inside.

Stationery Review 323 - Bril Signature Fountain Pen (INR 999)

Hi Friends,

The Bril Signature Fountain Pen is a niche fountain pen from Bril India and is priced at Rs 999. This is an exclusive acrylic fountain pen in blue coloured cap with a transparent body. This pen has a nice nib but doesn't have the Bril branding on the same. Overall, this is a nice pen which will look great with sheen kind of inks, as it's like a demonstrator pen. Stationery Review 323 - Bril Signature Fountain Pen (INR 999)

The Bril Signature Fountain Pen looks amazingly beautiful, and if you have to buy one fountain pen, then this is it. It writes beautifully well and the ink flow is consistent and smooth. The nib doesn't have Bril branding, which needs to be added to make it unique to the Bril India brand, as they have other RFP pens which all have Bril written on their nibs if the size permits.

The cap is really unique due to its pearl-like finish in blue colour, and can also be compared to the marble finish. I really love it when it glitters in the sunlight. This pen has an ink tank that's inserted into its acrylic body is what it feels like, so it makes sense to check the individual pen piece for any lines or roughness in the barrel area while in production. 

The grip section is also a little bit small, and your fingers might touch the threads, but if you can ignore the same it will be great; else, you can adjust your grip. It's also made of the same acrylic as the cap. The top finial is transparent, so it gives a really nice effect. Overall, it's a great fountain pen that will remain with me till I last or the pen lasts.

Stationery Review 322 - PLP Jumbo Fountain Pen - Ebonite (INR 2200)

Hi Friends, 

I bought this Jumbo Ebonite Fountain Pen from PLP Handmade Pens in Hyderabad. The pen was created after the order, and then it was shipped to my address, all for Rs 2200. It is available in Black and Green ebonite variants currently. They also have other colour photos for this pen on their website. I wanted something big, much bigger than any of my pens, and also a handmade pen. This is my first handmade pen as well. All the other pens I have are made in factories by machines or robots may be. Stationery Review 322 - PLP Jumbo Fountain Pen - Ebonite (INR 2200)

PLP Jumbo is really a big-sized pen, be it its barrel or the grip section. The ebonite looks great, but polishing could have been better to bring a glossy finish. Currently, it's between matte and gloss, which is also fine, as it looks unique, and you can tell that it's a handmade pen because of its finishing. The pen is working great and can hold a lot of ink in its barrel, as this is an ink dropper pen. I bought the pen for the size only, and heard good things about the PLP pens. I will continue to try the upcoming brands in the Indian fountain pen market that make unique pens. I have contacted them as well in case they want to collaborate with me. The choice is theirs and I am just waiting for the positive response from them.

Stationery Review 321 - Kanwrite Emperor Teakwood Fountain Pen (EEF) INR 999

Hi Friends,

I bought the Kanwrite Emperor Teakwood Fountain Pen with a Dual Tone Extra Extra Fine (EEF) nib. This pen writes amazingly well on paper. This has a little bit of weight to the body, which I love. This looks good in this wooden look, though the pen is made of metal. This is priced at Rs 999, and I bought it at the same price. This comes with an extra empty cartridge and an ink converter already attached as well. Check it out!

Stationery Review 321 - Kanwrite Emperor Teakwood Fountain Pen (EEF) INR 999

Kanwrite Emperor is really a hefty pen which looks great in your hands. I totally loved the metal body, which feels nice whenever you pick it up, as it will feel cold and will warm up in your hands. When I ordered, I thought that this was a wood pen, but it's the paint on the metal barrel. This wooden paint comes in two variants - Rosewood and Teakwood. Even if I knew, I would have gone for this colour only as it really looks like wood. This pen writes amazingly great despite it being an EEF nib. There is no scratch, and it's such a pleasure to write with this pen. I have also bought the Kanwrite Leather pen case where this pen will rest when I am not using the same. It can hold a lot of ink and comes with an extra attachment where you can store your inks and carry them during your travels. When you reach your destination just plug it in and enjoy your favourite coloured ink. 

The next on my wishlist is to get an Extra fine Flex nib from Kanwrite may be in a Spectra Yellow coloured pen launched recently by Kanwrite.

Flair Ink Tanker is a fountain pen that has an ink dropper kind of mechanism. It also comes with 2 big capacity ink barrels. This gives you the best value as it will last a long, long time. I really loved this fountain pen as it has a large ink capacity, and the flair nibs are really good steel nibs in this price range. They are really responsive and write smoothly on paper. This pen has a little bit of weight compared to all the pens in this price range. The grip is also thicker in the range.

Stationery Review 319 - Flair Inky Retrax Fountain Pen (INR 100) - The Best One!

Hi Friends, 

Flair Inky Retrax fountain pen has won my heart for sure. The quality, the price and the ink flow is definitely worth leaving all pens aside and only carrying this one. It comes with 3 ink cartridges, and there is also an ink converter as well which is already placed in the pen. I filled it with Bril Violet Ink and it writes amazingly great in medium width or nib size.

Stationery Review 319 - Flair Inky Retrax Fountain Pen (INR 100) - The Best One!

This is one of the best retractable pens in this price range of Rs 100. I got a 15% discount from a Stationery Shop in Palam Vihar Vyapar Kendra shop in Gurgaon. This also comes in black colour, which I will also try to buy. The ink gets dry despite keeping it inside the cover it comes with, so it takes a little bit of effort to get it back to writing, but once it starts working, there is no stopping it for that writing session.

Stationery Review 318 - Maped Cosmic Fountain Pen (INR 90) - Don't Buy it!

Hi Friends,

I bought this Maped Cosmic Fountain Pen for Rs 90, and this pen is not even writing out of the box. There is no proper ink flow. Comes with only 2 cartridges and doesn't work at all. Such a waste of money considering the Maped brand value.

Even after changing the cartridge to another one, this one is not working at all. The shopkeeper also didn't agree to replace the same, so it's money wasted. Never buy this pen, and the rubber grip keeps rotating, so the design is also not good, as it makes the cap not fit properly if not aligned with the slot.
